Choose whether your pocket owl may nudge you
Receive monitor alerts on your mobile device and keep control of its permission.

Device setup comes first
Open Profile → Notifications in the updated mobile app to receive a nudge when an accessible monitor goes down or recovers. Each device keeps its own setting. Web push is not available in this release.
Mobile monitor alerts are available on every plan. If your environment is not configured yet, the switch is unavailable.
Choose for this device
Each signed-in device has its own setting. Switching this device off does not switch off another phone or tablet.
- Open Profile and find Notifications.
- Turn on Mobile push and respond to your device’s permission prompt.
- Wait for the confirmation that this device is ready. If registration needs another moment, try again shortly.
- Turn the switch off whenever you need a quieter pocket. An offline opt-out is saved locally and synchronized when the app reconnects.
If permission is resting
Choose Device settings to open your phone’s settings, then allow notifications for UptimeOwl. Return to the app and refresh the settings or try switching on again.
Changing system permission can stop delivery even when your saved app preference is on. Permission and registration must both be ready.
Two notes for your watch
Updated apps use two pairs of clear warning pulses followed by a lower note when a monitor goes down and a brighter ascending chime when it recovers. General notifications keep the default sound. Install the latest mobile build to receive the bundled sounds; older builds may use the system sound instead.
Your device has the final say. Silent mode, notification volume, Focus or Do Not Disturb, sound permissions and system grouping may silence or change what you hear. UptimeOwl does not bypass those settings.
On Android 8 and later, open UptimeOwl’s notification settings to find Monitor downtime and Monitor recovery. Each channel can be silenced or customized separately. Existing mute and custom-sound choices are preserved when upgrading. On Android 8–10, an existing default channel sound is also preserved because the app cannot reliably tell whether you chose it yourself. You can adjust each new channel in device settings.
Signing out and changing accounts
Alerts use generic lock-screen text. Tap one to open the monitor after UptimeOwl checks your current access. Paused monitors, maintenance windows and suspended workspaces do not send new alerts. Signing out disconnects this device from its signed-in push identity. A new sign-in starts with push off until you choose to enable it again. Revoked sessions and removed workspace membership invalidate the server device binding.
OneSignal handles push registration and delivery with Apple or Google. In Account → Notifications on the website, Accepted by OneSignal confirms provider acceptance rather than display on your phone. Check device permission, Focus settings and connectivity if an alert does not appear. Your sign-in email and passwordless sign-in token are not sent to OneSignal. Notifications already delivered to a device cannot be recalled by a server access change.
