Bring monitors into a new nest

Preview an UptimeOwl JSON file before creating paused monitors.

Prepare the file

Imports accept UptimeOwl JSON with 1–100 monitors and a maximum file size of 1 MB. An export from UptimeOwl is the safest starting point. Imported monitors count against your plan allowance.

The example below is a minimal version-6 document. The endpoint is illustrative; replace it with your public monitoring URL and choose an interval your plan permits.

{"format":"uptimeowl-monitors","version":6,"monitors":[{"name":"Example monitor","url":"https://example.com","checkIntervalSeconds":300}]}

Preview before importing

  1. Open the monitor import action and choose your JSON file.
  2. Review the names, URLs, check settings and labels in the preview.
  3. Confirm the import.
  4. Review the new paused monitors, restore any protected request details and resume when ready.

Imports create new monitors

Importing is not an update-by-URL operation. Each new import creates monitors even when matching URLs already exist. It does not restore old history or incidents. Imported monitors always start paused; one-off maintenance windows and protected credentials are not restored from exports.
