Create a monitor
Open Monitors in your dashboard and choose the add action. Give the monitor a recognizable name and choose Check a service for HTTP / API, TCP connection, ICMP ping, TLS certificate or WebSocket monitoring, Watch a scheduled job for a heartbeat, or Watch a domain for DNS records and domain expiry. For outbound checks, enter its public URL and choose a check interval. Job heartbeats need an expected interval and grace instead; they start paused until you install their success command and resume.
The minimum interval depends on your plan: Free supports checks every 5 minutes; Starter every 3 minutes; Team every minute; and Business every 30 seconds. The form enforces your current allowance.
Tune the check
Job heartbeats receive successful-run pings and use an expected interval plus grace instead of an outbound timeout. Other monitor types use Check schedule for their timeout. TLS certificate settings let you choose an expiry warning window; HTTP and WebSocket controls stay hidden for certificate checks. HTTP/API settings include expected status, redirects, methods, protected request details, keyword checks and JSON assertions. WebSocket checks can verify only the opening handshake or use text/JSON rules on the first complete message. WebSocket protocol adds a subprotocol and optional matching-pong check. WebSocket request holds optional encrypted text, custom headers and Basic/Bearer authentication over WSS; HTTP-only settings stay hidden.
Keep credentials in the monitor’s secret settings. Do not include them in names, tags or public widget headings.
Check now or edit later
If our lookout is changing shifts during an update, a manual check may ask you to try again shortly. Automatic monitoring stays with the active release during the handover. When your nest has several checks underway, the Check control stays busy and a message confirms that your request is queued. Our lookout shares the result when it is ready. Closing the page does not cancel the check. If the request expires or the monitor changes, you can request a fresh check. Your saved monitoring interval stays unchanged.
Use the check action to request a check when your plan’s minimum interval allows it. Open Edit to change the saved settings. The dashboard shows the effective interval for each monitor.
